The School was established in an impressive early 19th century house located in central Wigton. Adjoining property has been added as the school has developed and a busy Nursery established. The grounds include front and rear lawned play areas, tarmac play areas and a landscaped 'quiet' garden, all of which balance security with freedom of movement. St. Ursula's is an interdenominational school which was originally founded as a convent school in 1947 by The Sisters of Mercy. Since their retirement in 1982, the school has been run as a non-profit making organisation managed by a Trust. St. Ursula's is governed by the Board of Trustees, who are parents of St. Ursula's pupils past and present. St. Ursula's staff of experienced, qualified teachers is devoted to the aims and objectives described. The ethos of the school has ensured those special qualities for which St. Ursula's pupils are known and can be taken with them, with confidence, into their future.
